Finding the Right Balance
Honeymoon planning is stressful enough without adding kosher logistics on top. The good news is that there are genuinely romantic destinations where keeping kosher doesn't require a military-grade supply chain. The bad news is that some of the most popular honeymoon destinations (the Maldives, Bali, Fiji) have essentially zero kosher infrastructure, so you'll either need to bring everything with you or adjust your expectations. The destinations on this list were chosen for a specific balance: they're romantic and special enough to feel like a proper honeymoon, while having enough kosher food options that you're not eating protein bars for every meal. Some are obvious (Mediterranean Europe), some are newer entrants (Dubai, which has exploded since the Abraham Accords), and some are underrated (South Africa, which combines luxury with accessibility). We've skipped Israel — it's the obvious kosher honeymoon destination and you don't need our help finding food there.
⭐Mediterranean Europe: The Classic Choice
The Italian and French Rivieras remain the gold standard for romantic kosher travel. Nice has a beautiful Sephardic community with kosher restaurants, gorgeous beaches, and easy access to Monaco, Cannes, and the hilltop villages of Provence. Rome combines world-class kosher food in the Ghetto (see our Rome food trail guide) with unparalleled historical romance — gelato at the Trevi Fountain, sunset over the Forum, dinner on a Trastevere side street. Marbella on Spain's Costa del Sol has a growing Jewish community and several kosher dining options, plus beach resorts, golf, and the charm of Andalusia. Cyprus is an underrated option — beautiful beaches, ancient ruins, Chabad with Shabbat meals, and significantly cheaper than Western Mediterranean destinations. The whole Mediterranean coast is at its most romantic in May-June or September-October when the weather is warm but the crowds have thinned out.
Dubai: Luxury Kosher Honeymoon
Dubai has emerged as a serious kosher honeymoon contender since the Abraham Accords. The city has multiple kosher restaurants, a Chabad, and the kind of over-the-top luxury that honeymoons are made for — the Burj Al Arab, desert safaris, yacht cruises, infinity pools overlooking the skyline. The kosher restaurant scene has grown from nothing to multiple options in just a few years, with new places opening regularly. Our Dubai kosher revolution guide covers the dining scene in detail. The weather is perfect from November to March (summer is brutally hot — avoid). Dubai also pairs well with Abu Dhabi for a day trip — the Louvre Abu Dhabi museum is worth the drive alone. For couples who want luxury, pampering, and Instagram-worthy settings, Dubai delivers all of that with kosher food to match. The hotels are extraordinary and many will arrange kosher room service or special meals with advance notice.
South Africa: Adventure Romance
If your idea of romance involves more than a beach (though it has those too), Cape Town is remarkable. Table Mountain at sunset, the Cape Winelands (with several kosher wineries), Boulders Beach penguins, the Garden Route coastal drive — it's genuinely one of the most beautiful places on earth. And the Jewish community is large enough that kosher food is not a problem. Multiple restaurants, well-stocked kosher supermarkets, and active synagogues make Cape Town one of the most comfortable kosher destinations outside Israel and New York. Add a few days of safari at a private game reserve (see our kosher safari guide) for an unforgettable combination. The exchange rate makes South Africa remarkably affordable for the level of luxury available — five-star lodges that would cost $1,000/night elsewhere run half that in South Africa. Best months for a Cape Town honeymoon are October-March (Southern Hemisphere summer).
💡Honeymoon Planning Tips
Book kosher meals in advance. Don't leave food logistics to chance on your honeymoon. Contact Chabad, restaurants, and hotels before you go. Consider a kosher all-inclusive resort if they exist at your destination — taking food decisions off the table entirely is a luxury worth paying for on a honeymoon. Pack Shabbat supplies even if you plan to use Chabad or a community — having your own candles, small kiddush cup, and wine means you can make Shabbat private if you prefer. Hotel concierges at luxury properties are remarkably helpful with kosher requests if you explain clearly. Many have dealt with it before. Travel insurance: Always, but especially for honeymoons where rebooking costs are high. Don't over-schedule. The best honeymoon advice, kosher or otherwise — leave room for lazy mornings and spontaneous exploration.
