2,000 years of Jewish life and unforgettable Roman-Jewish cuisine
Rome's Jewish community is the oldest in Europe — Jews have lived here continuously for over 2,000 years. The historic Jewish Ghetto near the Tiber is today one of Rome's most charming neighborhoods, with numerous kosher eateries serving distinctive Roman-Jewish cuisine. Carciofi alla giudia (Jewish-style fried artichokes) is a must-try. The Great Synagogue overlooks the river, and the community remains active and welcoming.
