Rich Sephardic history and a very safe environment
Amsterdam's Jewish history stretches to the 16th century, when Sephardic Jews found refuge here. The Portuguese Synagogue (Esnoga), built in 1675, remains one of the world's most magnificent. Despite Holocaust devastation, the community has rebuilt with several kosher restaurants, an active Chabad, and important heritage sites. The Anne Frank House is essential for every visitor.
